Default 2wd VS 4x4 for drag

So I have all the parts to put together my truck, and had the ida of switching things up before I start work on the truck and going to a 4wd truck. Iv seen one or 2 fast 4wd trucks out there so I know it can be done. Just haven't know anyone first hand who has built one

What do you guys think I should do

right now I have a bone stock 4.8 RCSB 05 gmc Sierra I could sell and get a 99 RCSB 5.3 z71 silverado, that's on craigslist

I have a 408 and Ysi supercharger about 1,000hp
I have a built 4l80 (my tranny guy will extange for a 4wd set up)
I have all the suspension for my 2wd truck

No doubt you need 4wd if you want to even think about being able to hook on the street. Modding a 2wd truck with a ton of power is retarded IMO. You have the traction issues a high HP car has, and the downside of a truck with the aerodynamics of a brick and you get to haul around an extra 1500+#s. I've beaten much faster cars in ky truck simply because I press my magic traction button and the race is over before I get to the other side of the intersection.

FYI 1000hp and DD/work truck don't mix, unless you've got a backup vehicle.

4wd is always a blessing. I'm looking forward to going against my buddy's SRT8 Jeep after I'm boosted. Ya 1000hp goal on the street would be tough with 2wd even with good tires.

NOT having to swap to drag radials or slicks is a blessing only a 4x4 will know. If you were going for an all out drag truck then 2wd but otherwise NOTHING will launch as hard as a 4x4.

4wd is the only way to go for big power on the street. At the track a properly 2wd will be a good amount faster. Once you get past mid 1.4 60's the 4x4 will start to wheelie, and screw you. Also requires 4 slicks to hook at the track, which kill mph. All said 4x4 is better in my opinion for a street/strip truck unless you roll race from 80 on.
