It was a couple years back, I read it when I was building my talons dual pump fuel system. It makes sense though if you consider the pressure/volume both pumps generate flowing in a parallel path till it diverts.
Think of it as two water hoses meeting face to face verse having them spraying in a crossing pattern.
The test AMS did was testing different pumps, different voltages and line size/fittings. Was a good read, i'm sure with some searching it can be found.

Ive had enough fluid dynamics classes to know why in theory it flows less, but sometimes it is negligible in the real world, I guess not in this case.
I found the article, but saw no mention of different fitting sizes and configurations. They did in-tank vs inline, which was interesting.
