if you're gonna take the time an labor to pull the converter you might as well put a 3000 vs a tb converter imo.

get a locker and a set of gears youll be happier

j/k, if you guys are starting by "arm drops", smart money bets that your actual TRUE ET is far from accurate.

Yeah except our bald guy speaks Chamorro. jk For what it is worth...A racing track on a relatively small island with a total population of 170K, it is not a bad track, just a bit ghetto. It is cheap to run there. $5-6 a vehicle to get in and $2 each pass down the track. On any given Friday night, there might be a 15 minute wait between passes. The locals mainly run Nissan and Toyota pickups with 15 second times. There are a bunch of great people to race for fun against.

Charlie must really have my 4.8 dialed in, my truck ran 16.3 stock with full street weight, nothing removed. With a K&N complete intake, descreened MAF, longtubes, offroad Y pipe with dual exhaust, and his dual tune it runs consistent 14.5s/14.6s with a best of 14.4 on the smaller street tires and weight reduction. It went 15.1 on 20s and at street weight. Still with stock trans/stall, stock cam, 3.42s and a peg leg.

I can only guess that you were pre-loading the converter too hard. A 4.8L with a stock converter should never have a traction problem. I'd recomend going with an inexpensive Auburn unit and adding the TB converter. You should pick up about a full second between the two mods.

I have a stock converter and have traction problems. If I leave at idle, I spin for a few feet. If I stall it up any, I'm blowing the tires off. Now if the track is really prepped good, I can leave at idle without spinning.

The open diff doesn't help, but what tire are you running? It shouldn't take much track prep to keep a 4.8L from spinning. Either way, a good posi will make that truck so much more fun. Even a used Gov-Lock for a 100 buck or so would be well worth it.

Maybe that was my problem. I was stalling it up at the line. I stalled my truck before I modded it up, but traction wasnt that big of an issue. My traction problem came double fold after all the mods.

I will try not stalling next Friday (if it doesn't rain)...hopefully Wheatley has a new and improved tune for me as well.

Are you on street tires? If so what size and psi do you run them at the track? Do you go around the pit? Just curious cause last night i ran 16.8 at 82 spinning bad also. with your mph though it seems like you could hit a high 15
