Default questions

I posted in drivetrain but no one answered so I'll ask over here. I am looking at a 2000 jeep cherokee sport as a daily driver. it has an auto tranny and a 4.0. Are the autos reliable? are these jeeps good vehicles? I have heard nothing but good about them, but I thought some of you with experience could help. I'm a gm man so I don't know alot about them. Any help would be appriciated.

As far as I know the cherokee's are good, the 4.0 is a decent engine, no horsepower machine but it gets the job done. The tranny should be ok. It was the early 90's trannys that everyone jumps on Dodge for. I still a crap load of them driving around on the roads today so they are holding up fairly well to the test of time.

I own an 06 Liberty CRD(2.8L diesel) as my daily driver/winter/road trip vehicle and I've had no serious problems with it so far. There was that ball joint recall for all libbys. A little bit of brake chatter under heavy stopping, but the thing is built sturdy and seems to be a worthy replacement for the cherokee.

Thanks, I didn't know alot about them. I'm not worried about the power part as long as it's reliable. I have a truck for that.

if it has the offroad package it might have gotten the trac loc limited slip.

i have a 95 cherokee with 126,000 miles, and i've read of many of them running to 200,000 with the 4.0L.
