Default where to find 6.1 hemi engines for sale?

ive looked pretty much everywhere for blocks and parts. i own a chevy and i can find anything i pretty much need on craigslist or ebay and places like that. but when it comes to hemi stuff i find nothing. my buddy has a single cab 06 5.7 hemi he asked me to help him find some info and im getting nothing lol! he wanting to do a 6.1 swap or something along those lines. where can i find some used blocks. i dont mind having to take them to machine shop for work or anything like that. where to get his tranny upgraded at. he had his tranny rebuilt once already and the shop said they couldnt find any upgraded parts for his internals. i need help. when it comes to chevy stuff i can find it. but for all this hemi stuff getting me lost lol

Not so easy to find.
lot of times when you do it's a engine, trans, pcm and various cluster pkg (cause you need that stuff for the pcm) that doesn't really work with a car.
and some accessory and CAI setups have to be changed to put a SRT8 motor in a truck.
The stock trans is ok as long as it raced from a stop and doesn't see a lot of WOT downshifts and WOT shifts into overdrive.
Most.. well the few that want something like that more often will do a 5.7 based stroker.
You'd have to deal with tuning either way cause the car pcm ain't gonna like the truck
Have him check out the strokers at www.inertiamotorsports.com those will probably end up being quite a bit more bang for buck.

OTOH he could do cam and headers tuning stall, gears.. on the stock 5.7 block for less money and walk a stock SRT8 car down the track all day long.
Up to a point, the 5.7 hemi is very responsive to bolt ons and cam. In an 06 RC I'd guess mid to upper 12's on the stock block, stock heads. maybe spending 3-4K on cam, headers, TC, gears, tuner, drag radails...
much beyond that and heads are pretty darn expensive, nitrous of course, or take a stroker path

If you are looking for a used block you will be hard pressed to find it. You can buy a new bare block from the dealer though. Or like the above said you can just build the 5.7. You can make it a 392, 383, 370 etc. I had STU(Inertia) build me a 392 out of a 6.1 and I also have a 413 and two 6.1 short blocks.
