Default ugh..... not good.

well, ive diagnosed my problem tooooo.......

the inherent POS '03 valve springs..
cyl 1 spring broke, and the valve is barely stuck open.
im gonna go ahead and get a new set of beehive valve springs for both heads, and probably have them p&p'ed w/ a 3 angle valve job since their off.

which brings up another question, since ive got everything apart, and its prime opp. to bring a few more horses out, would it be more cost effective to get a new set of aftermarket heads, 6.1 heads, or p&p my stock heads?

i'm assuming you've got the 5.7 hemi..
I would stay away from the comp 918 beehive valve springs. And this is why..

You're best bet is to get 16 6.1 exhaust springs, you can get all 16 for around 60 bucks. I don't know of anyone that's broke one of those springs. There's countless people including myself that have broke the comp springs, there's even been a few spring failures from the manley springs.

If money is a concern you can P/P your on heads. But if you have the money you'd be better off to get a CNC'd set of heads. Also you need to have a pretty good idea of what your doing before you start porting. Have you checked to make sure your valve didn't get bent? Also, check the valve guide for any sign of damage. I'd also vote that you not get the 6.1 heads, there CC is too small and you will likely run into detonation problems. I P/P my heads a few months ago and also had .020" milled off to bring my compression up to 10.1:1. Here are some before and after pics..

k thanks.
i havent removed the heads yet. havent had time.
honestly, i dont know what to do. i really didnt have the time or money to do this. but thank god, im service manager at a shop so that way i can do all the labor myslef.
i think when i have the 3 angle valve job done, i might as well have him p&p it. its only gonna cost me another 200. bringing the total head bill(mopar "new style" OE springs, seating valves and springs with 3 angle job, p&p heads) to 400 bucks. not really that bad.
thanks for you help. anything else you can think of would be greatly appreciatted.
