alright so i found a great deal on a 03 Ram 1500 RCSB SLT with a HEMI about an hour and a half from where I live... i test drove an the same truck except for it was an 05 about a week ago... the 03 that i'll be looking at tomorrow is listed for $10990 with 75k miles on it... pretty good deal it seems.. i'm wondering if there are any major problems with the 03's that i should be concerned about? I plan on daily driving the truck.. i'll probably switch out the wheel/tires, add on full exhaust, full intake, and a tune (nothing more though).. so is this a good deal? anything i should know before buyin an 03 hemi?

 

04's and up respond a little beter to mods. The only other thing about the 03's is that they have a weaker toner ring design than the 04+ models. One plus for the 03's is that you can lock the transmission out of overdrive, thats something you can't do on the newer models.

 

There is nothing major to worry about that you wouldnt worry about with purchasing any other vehicle with 75k. With anything at that mileage it would be a good idea to expect to rebuild the transmission in about another 25k-50k miles. Of course they are all different and it just depends on how it was maintained.

They are good trucks though. I really like mine a lot.
