Default Hemi question

Hello, haven't posted in a long time. i sold my GTP and am looking at getting a hemi truck. I am currently looking at a 2006 night runner. My question is, was 06 or 07 the first year for the cylinder deactivation on these trucks? Also, looking at 04-07s, is there anything in particular I should check out? thanks.

06 was the first year with the MDS. To be honest, I haven't heard anyone say that they like the MDS. It sounds horrible when it goes into 4cyl mode, and I've heard the transition is not real smooth. The three biggest things I would look for is, make sure it has the factory harmonic balancer/crank pulley, make the dealership pull the rearend cover to insure that the factory LSD is still in one piece, and pay close attention to the tranny fluid if it's smells burnt at all don't get it. the overdrive clutches are notorious to burn up.

Thanks for the reply. The one I am looking at is a 06 with the nightrunner package and 24k miles. Does the nightrunner package include anything other than blacked out trim/wheels?
