As you can see, there is a big gap between 2nd(1.67) and third(1.0) compared to the jeep 5-speed transmission

Gear ratios:JEEP SRT-8
1st - 3.59
2nd - 2.19
3rd - 1.41
4th - 1.00
5th - 0.83
Rev - 3.17

Actually the Jeep's trans has a bigger jump (.78) than the Dodge (.67). It is a higher (numerically) geared trans though.

Im just asking because a guy I raced out at the meet had a 2005 Daytona and we went from a stop. Even though I spun though 1st I still caught and past him by 80mph. He was a good 2 trucks ahead of me before I hooked.. From a roll(30mph) it was pretty close up to 70 then I would start to pull and then leave him.. Just trying to figure out how my lil 4.8 can beat a HEMI??

Not Bashing Hemis or anything, just asking...

Mods:
Me-Intake,HPPIII,Muffler,3.73, & Posi
Him- Intake

I know he didnt have much, but I have a 4.8.. Come on !!

Sokay... what Hemis are you racing? Most of them will run in the Mid 15's and just a CAI can be a joke, depending on the CAI you can lose power and the same with a muffler... Torque Management is a killer on the stock trucks.... I have measured a 7 tenths gain on back to back tests with the Superchips programmer! It takes very little to make these things come alive and when HemiEdit becomes available things will become VERY interesting indeed...
BTW... got a time on your truck? My mods ( the important ones ) are listed in my sig... not many for that time..

nd ram, look again. We are not comparing the 2-3 difference, we r looking at the 2 gears seperating first gear from the 1:1 gear against our transmission that only has one gear in between first and 1:1. there is not as big a drop when shifting into 1:1 thus not falling on your face.

That is a good mph for that time... hook it up and you will be in an easy 14...

if you run across the Daytona again, tell him to get on here and we can get him much faster for just a little coin!

The reason my truck is slow at the track is because when I blew up my last tranny the idiots at the dealership upped the Tq Managment and my truck falls on its face after every shift .. Been Trying to get a friend of mine to get a Hp Tuner so I can Dyno Tune my truck at his shop on the his Dyno .. Im getting a friends LS1 stock fans, a hot Cam, Rockers, Valve Springs, Shift Kit and All Billet Servo and this stock plastic plunger in my tranny is getting replaced by a billet one .. So it should get faster ..

On the Daytona Guy, he wont talk to me anymore... :dunno:

I drive a 2005 SC HEMI and that think has ***** on every shift. If your friend is having trouble with his top end, he should try some LT headers.

I believe the answer is that the late model trucks no matter what make or model are governed to 80 to 100 mph. I know when I had my 05 GMC escsb 5.3 20" wheels, I raced a 05' qcsb hemi with 17" tires and we were side by side on the first race. When I installed my hypertech, I programmed my truck for 128 mph speed rated tires, which allowed me to go past 100 mph, now my truck had a few mods which were, flowmaster, volant, and hypertech. We raced the second time, and I pulled away from him past 100 mph. All he had was a CAI, and a magnaflow, but nothing to allow him to go past 100 mph. If you go with superchips tune for this, then you can get much more out of the hemi. Just my opinon, but not sure.
