HEMI Performance ??
Does all of the Hemis fall on there faces after 80mph,everyone that I have raced has been yanked by the time I hit 80mph.. WHY??
Im just asking because a guy I raced out at the meet had a 2005 Daytona and we went from a stop. Even though I spun though 1st I still caught and past him by 80mph. He was a good 2 trucks ahead of me before I hooked.. From a roll(30mph) it was pretty close up to 70 then I would start to pull and then leave him.. Just trying to figure out how my lil 4.8 can beat a HEMI??
Not Bashing Hemis or anything, just asking...

I know the RC Ram weighs more than an RC GM truck but the power to weight ratio is probably the same for both trucks because of the difference in engine size. Also, the 4.8L is no slouch! My QC Ram does alot better in 3rd since getting the Superchips programmer, extending the 2nd gear shift helps out alot in 3rd. He needs to get a programmer and then run him again, see if it makes any difference.?

ok, I will give you the correct answer. Yes, all hemis fall on there face in third gear when going from 2 to 3. If you are in fourth and floor it, the downshift will put you in a seperate second gear called a kickdown gear. The ratios are close until you hit third. Most 5 speed transmissions do not have the 1:1 gear until forth, but it is third in ours which gives you the effect of falling on your face. It is the equivalent of driving a stick shift and shifting from 2 to 4 and skipping 3 all together. ALL hemi's have this problem, but alot of people just dont realize it because they are downshifting and hitting the kickdown 2 gear.

Gear ratios:RAM HEMI
1st - 3.00
2nd - 1.67 (up-shift), 1.50 (kick-down)
3rd - 1.0
4th - 0.75
5th - 0.67
Rev - 3.0
As you can see, there is a big gap between 2nd(1.67) and third(1.0) compared to the jeep 5-speed transmission
Gear ratios:JEEP SRT-8
1st - 3.59
2nd - 2.19
3rd - 1.41
4th - 1.00
5th - 0.83
Rev - 3.17
1st - 3.00
2nd - 1.67 (up-shift), 1.50 (kick-down)
3rd - 1.0

The Tranny in these things isn't setup well. Wish it was like how the Titan's tranny was geared. Not to mention our areo dynamic's really catch up with us around that mph. Our Drag co is much worse then a Chevy.
What tranny is in the srt-8 gc, the same as ours just geared differently? Wonder if we could do a swap if it is.
