Default Engine Oils

What kind of oil have you guys had good luck running? I am on the Mobile 1 synthetic myself, have used in every vehicle I have owned since day 1, well almost anyway. I have always had great luck running it, so why change??? Just wondering if you guys had anything else you were using like Amsoil or what ever, post your findings!

I've always used Valvoline until my last 00 Silverado which I ran Mobil 1. I change the oil at every 3K and at $5 a quart, it get's kind of expensive. I've gone back to Valvoline 5w-20 my last couple of changes and noticed no difference. My last oil change, Wal Mart didn't have Valvoline 5w-20 so I bought Castrol GTX 5w-20. I don't think you'll notice much with any oil and changing it at 3K, it keeps good clean oil in the engine. Good, clean fluids are the life blood of a car or truck, do good Preventative Maintenance and you won't have alot of problems.

I agree with Ram4Pick, doing good preventive maintenance will prolong the lift of your vehicle. I would deffinently recomend a synthetic oil to anyone though. Just my 2 cents!

I've used Castrol Syntech 5/20 but am switching over to Royal Purple on my next change. I've gone to RP in my tranny and diff so may as well go motor too. Anyone see the Horsepower TV episode where they dynoed a mid-90's Camaro, switched all fluids from dino to RP and gained about 8hp?

Amsoil 0/30 and about to change it, going to go to 0/20w this time though. Oh yea, been doing the extended oil changes, I have 22,000+ on this oil change with a filter change every 6,000 miles ( instead of the 12,000 ) and the engine has not been using oil and it still looks good. ( visually anyway ).
