Loud? Yes!
Bad? Don't know.

I hear a cutout is good for 10hp or so on the top end, I am not sure what you what they do down low, but the hemi's do like to breath.

I agree. The Dodge comes stock with a 3" exhaust so the cutout doesn't give as much gain as other makes.
There was a rumor early on about burnt exhaust valves with aftermarket plumbing. I never heard much about it so maybe there were some rare cases. Reduced back pressure could make the exhaust run hotter and work the valves over a bit?!?

Heh, turns out I am picking up a cutout later tonight from a friend on DTW.

I figure why my dyno is about 10-12hp less then others with the same mods are that they had cutouts and they also don't use the very restrictive Y pipe that comes with the Dynatech supermaxx headers. The dynatech Y pipe is 2.5" tubes into a 2.5" collector, then expands to a 3", it's the 2.5" collector that is a problem.

So the truck goes into the shop to get a new Y pipe and this cutout installed. I have a free dyno waiting for me at my local shop so I'll have some before/after numbers on the Y pipe, and I can probably convince them to give me a run or two with the cutout open to see if there is a diff there.

I'll report back on it hopefully in a week or two, drags open here May 12th and I want to be ready. I have a 13.7 1/4mile Supercharged 5.3 Chevy 1500 to try and beat.

Wow that much, I doubt I'll see that much of a gain but a 10th or two would be great.
