hey my friend has a 98 ram sport with a 318 in it .

Have you guys ruiled out an exhaust leak?

If so, and 93 doesn't help I'd suspect a fueling issue (injector, fuel filter, fp, etc).

well we thought it was a knock thats why i said we tryed 93 to help with denotation . also its coming from the motor i can hang out the window and hear it and feel it on the florboard on the passenger side . also a loss of power occurs . now being a injector could cause this ? i dont kno if it was him who said his fuel filter is in the tank ? if it isnt then his has been changed . i cant keep up with all my friends trucks lol

The fuel filter would be in the tank on a 98...

Mama's Indy used to do it but it was just old plugs/plug wires. Also I only run 93 in it now, I know ya already said that didn't help.

Does it throw any codes? you might check the fuel pressure... the fuel filters on those things are supposed to be lifetime ( according to my dealer... ) but I would not bet on it... Have you tried a scanner on it to what the fuel trims are looking like???

Another possibility is the 3.55 gears are overloading the engine at that high of an rpm. I plan on going to 3.91 for Mama's (stock) Indy. I know a few people that have done it and their mileage went up due to the engine not having such a load. Plus it's the perfect mod; better mileage, quicker et's, and I'll be going to a Sure-Grip.
