Default 360 oil useage

I have a 99 Durango with the 360 in it that seems to use I think a bit much oil. Right now it sits with 127,000 miles on it. I dont se any on start up like a chevy, and no real blue smoke when driving. Seems to be a quart every 1000 or so though. No puddle on the ground either. Maybe just expecting more out of a tired engine maybe.. I twould think it is not wore out yet. I have yet to really delve into this but right now just a curiosity. Need to do a leak down and compression check. Sounds like it is coming by the rings idea wise. I was also curious if they are know to loose oil through the intake gasket maybe. Not versed on these motors like a sbc, so this is a new engine ot learn. Mostly what i have learned so far is that they are hard to tune if you want more power, but that is fine as it is the wifes car. Oh and they love to eat gas, even wit hchecking tire pressure and all that. 11.5 city is the normal gas mileage though. thanks for any info

More than likely it's the belly pan gasket. VERY normal thing to go wrong on the 5.9's. You can open your throttlebody plate and rub your finger around in the tb. If it's got a wet oily residue then the intake is the ticket. You'll have to pull the kegger intake and replace that belly pan gasket.
