Default 09 hemi in my 03 dodge hemi????

My cuz has an 03 dodge ram with a hemi....the truck has over 200K and was offered a low mile 09 hemi complete with everything. My question is can i use just the motor and reuse the same harness or is the motor diffrent? thanks for your input

thats a whole different generation of ram hemi there, plus the 03s were sorta the bastard step childen since it was the first year they put the hemi in the ram.

Im gonna say you're gonna need the whole damn computer and a few other things too.

You could possibly drop the long block in, problem is the 09+ (Eagle) heads have ports like 6.1 heads. Your old intake isn't going to cut it, nor can you retrofit MDS and VVT. The 09 intake in the Ram has the switching runner length thing in it, so you would need either a 6.1 intake or at least a passenger car Eagle intake (like from a Chally or Charger). Suffice to say it will take alot more work to get everything going right versus finding an 03-08 hemi to use. Even if you end up scoring an 06-08, you can get rid of the MDS parts and install an EGR block off plate and still have somewhat of a drop in (using your original 03 sensors ans connections, etc).

Sell the 09' Hemi Motor-AND-Sell the high mileage 2003 with the transmission- Then buy a 2004-or-05'-low mileage Motor and transmission out of a Ram ..Get the wiring harness and computer. with it and Install it in youre truck. It's pretty much plug and play from there..If you get a 2003 you'll have no chance for computer upgrades or change, A 2004 is a little better but programers don't offer anything to change the Transmission. Shift points etc...A 2005 re-programer has the best options of the three years. Plus you have all cylinders- All the time..And the wiring won't be as difficult as a 2006 and up motor with MDS...That's what I would do..
