I removed the silencer ring from my turbo on my stock 05 5.9. The engine light is now on, and I noticed no real difference in whine. Anyone else have an expierence with this???

It would help to know what the engine code is

 

If your still using the stock air filter and box, you won't hear any difference. Get an aftermarket filter set-up or a BHAF and you will hear it sing.

On the code, did you remember to plug the IAT back into the sensor if you unplugged it to remove the ring? If you started the engine before plugging it in, it will throw a code. After plugging it in, it will clear itself after 5 or so starts.
