Hers is what im thinking.

A.) leave it carbed (vortec heads, air gap intake, eddy 1406) and get a bigger cam and stall.

B.) get a 5.3 (can get one for $400 with 110,000 miles) use the EFI and swap it in. then turbo it or spray it.

C.) get the 5.3, then upgrade the valve springs, swap a big cam in it and get the edelbrock timing box and intake kit.

good luck man! im in the same boat with my square... minus the turbo or spray! hard choice bud but with that kind of a deal on the gen III if it has all the accessories and wiring id be all over that one. as it is right now im on the fence because there is no such thing as a deal like that by me.

 

i would do a cammed ls1 or 6.0 instead of a 5.3 but why pass up the deal on the 5.3....or buy the 5.3 and build an iron 5.7, get a nice set of heads, cam and spray it

 

if you go with the 5.3 what do you plan on doing for a transmission?

 

ive got a built 700r4. i wont be beating it constantly so it should last.
