stand by for pics of the brown bomber. And like you I just recently picked up a 5.3 and plan on getting a snail on it before it goes in and the frame gets a chop. Cummins are just too damn expensive. Ill take 5xxhp/5xxtq on a budget over black smoke and clatter.

I did a 5.3/4L60e swap in my 86 gmc in 2011. Drove it up and down the east coast, VA to NC to FL. I averaged 18-20 mpg on the highway with a heavy foot.
1990 k5 blazer. 5.3 with ls6 cam and valve springs. built 4l60e with 2k stall. 241 tcase and 14bff with 4.10 gears and 35" tires. average 14 city if i baby it and 20 highway if i dont go over 55
