keep blowing ecm fuse!butchered wiring harness help
#1
Hey guys I got this 91 swb step side 1500 long story short this truck was somebody's show truck that just went to hell.so there was a code alarm under the dash with a bird nest full of wires that I plan on cutting out and he had pop locks that he lost the remote to so I had to rip all the wires out for that.there's also a hot wire for the e fans thru the fire wall without a gromet and all the wires on the harness are exposed also the big wire that goes to the starter from the battery has a big burn hole in it from touching the header.so that being said if I address all these exposed wires and extra wires that are not needed should this take care of the ecm fuse that keeps blowing?it blew 3 times on the way back from the track tonight and its pretty emberessing.has anybody else had this problem or know if its a common problem?thanks

most likely yes. fix all the wires an use grommets for wires that pass through metal. you have a short. some where there is a positive wire touching metal an its shorting an fuse is blowing to keep it from frying

Thanks for the reply Chevy fun,yea so I ripped out some old alarm that said code alarm on it and it was tied into the ignition wires so I got that out of there and then I put a grommet around e fan wire and re routed the main power wire to the starter so it wouldn't ground out on the header and so far 250 miles no popped fuses so I think I got it
