Default 97 to a 5.3 conversion???

i have a 97 swb chevy truck with a 5.7 and auto trans.

my question is

i purchased a complete, i mean complete 2006 motor and trans, for my 97 and i have the motor mounts that i need for the swap it was part of the motor and trans purchase etc. im really ready to set the motor in place.:hyper2:
but i just need to know if i could just use the 2006 5.3 harness and just zip tie or whatever my 97 harness and just set it out of the way under the hood?
the 97 truck is unmolested never been jacked with as far as wiring harness goes, i have purchased a serv# 12200411 ecm. but never converted to the 411 ecm.
would it be a better option to convert over to the 411, so i could use my 97 wiring harness to run the motor and tranny of the 2006 5.3?
or could i just use the 2006 complete motor, trans, and wiring and splice in whats needed?
thanks
Ed

I'm not sure on the wiring harness questions, because I did the carburetor thing and used the MSD box. Try posting in the Conversion section in LS1tech or search through a few posts here in the classic section and see what members have done the swap and then PM them. Good luck man.

Ya man, poke around a little bit on LS1tech. I recall some one blended the 2 harness's and was able to use the 97 to run the 5.3 Or send them both off to speartech and see if John would blend them for you. Might save you some head ache.

i just got done with a lq9 swap in my 98 chevy.. i recommend while the motor is out to take the heads off and have them re done with new seals. my motor was suppose to be in 100% perfect condition, i get it put in and #4 cylinder takes a dive for the worst. so i had to take the head off.
as far as wiring goes i think you will need to go with all new stuff. mine was a v6 though so i had to use all new and a new pcm of course. i had nelson performance do this for me, they did pretty good on it. he knows his stuff when it comes to this so if u have questions i would ask him. good luck with the swap

i just wish i would have done this before i had the motor in the truck

theres the motor, it came complete and looked perfect

Hey chevylee i got a question on your wiring set-up...
I'm doin a 6 liter swap myself and was wondering on how to change the
wiring over to the old harness..
I have the fuse block off the 04 lq4 i bought and the one out of my truck
can i just splice into the old fuse block with the new fuse block or am i goin to have to run all new wiring????
oh and this project is starting to worry me!!!
