i was wanting to do a 5.3 swap n 4l60e in my 91 silverado 2wd and upgrade l8er when i get the money for 6.0/80e...but do u have to cut wires n get it tune for it to work?

 

Yes to both. Anti theft needs turned off to allow it to run. Truck harness must be modified and blended into ls harness. Each swap is unique.

 

i was want the 2000 model..but them 05 just look better under the hood...have you done an 99-02 yet?

 

I would suggest for some one who hasn't done a swap to do a cable throttle engine. Yes my 79 has an 00 5.3/60E in it.

Have you gotten a chance to finish tuning your truck yet? I'm curious to know if you can pick up any mpg's in doing so. I know I can't wait to get me 93 5.3 swap finished cause my 88 2500 is killing me on gas right now. It's got a custom tuned tbi 305 th400 combo with 3.42:1 gears and at 70mph it's turning over 3grand to the tune og about 12mpg's around town it avgs 15-16 but hwy kills it.

 

I have only tuned the trans shift points so far... trip of 100 miles, got 18.5 at a steady 60mph. Has a 3" body lift and 33's... should get better.... I hope

 

Sounds great to me cause my 93 5.3/4L60E build has 32.5's with the 3.42 gears but no lift so that gives me something to shoot for. Even untuned that's alot better than the 13mpg avg I get everyday with my 2500.
