Default you FI and cam guys... idle problem?

So the first two days after the whipple and blower install all was good... i put on 100 miles yesterday on the highway no problem... out of boost its about 15-18 on vaccum.. in boost still only 4 psi..

Well last night it starts having a delay in the throttle from a stop. Pulling out normal, you give it a little gas nothing really happens.. sorta felt like it was out of gas.. Now my air fuel is showing 17 to ---- when ideling and its camming like a race car... once you pull ou it goes back to fine..

So im assuimg a few things.

1) ive got a vaccum leak some place

2) fuel filter is clogged?

3) my euc said to hell with the tune.. only problme with that is its fine ever where else but idel... you think this is in the "throttle cracker" setting.

It does sound good though.. here is a clip from sam's last night when i left.. It also fires right up like usual. turn the key, it starts, then you have camming thats it never done

The smoke is just steam, it was 20* last night.

Of course we have idle problems. I could have somebody fix my tune, but I want to figure it out. It's been 9 or 10 months and I've just about got it. I only mess with it once in awhile, maybe I'll read something on HP Tuners forum that might apply and give it a try. All I have left is to figure out how to fix the transition from idle (< 2 mph) to not idle (> 2 mph). I get a surge, I think I have to make one of the tables match the other. I forgot, my throttle is part of my problem.

Just making a point that it probably is in your tune, and it is a pain to fix unless you are a pro.

What are your cam specs? What is your desired idle speed in gear?

If everything is good when you are moving at a speed that adaptive idle is disabled (Again, more than 2 mph for me), and you aren't experiencing "cruise control", then your cracker tables should be OK.

I would start with "idle base running airflow in gear", try adding a little at a time. Then do what Krambo suggests, here, starting at the #3 post.

thanks for the info... i hate to admit it but it was simple. the boot that connects the mass air had come off on the bottom . I took the clamps off put the boot back on and it fixed the problem lol...

I see you have a whipple as well what kind of boost are you making?

WOW . I'm only getting 4 to 5 pai and then it falls off to 3. I'd love to make 7 or 8. But as others have talked about on here I think my motor is to big for the blower
- might just have to make my own pully!

The Kodiak/Topkick 8.1l use a inch bigger crank pull. You might try that route.

With a 2-5/8" pulley you've maxed the efficient boost your going to get from the whipple 2.3L. That may be:
7lbs with a stock motor with no intercooler
6.5lbs with a stock motor and intercooler
6lbs with a stock motor, intercooler, and headers

......and down from there as you go with a CAM and or heads. You might be able to get more boost with smaller blower pulleys and bigger crank pulleys but i think you are going to be to far out of the efficiency range of the compressor that your going to make more heat than boost. You really need to upgrade to a 3.3L blower somehow.

is the 2 -5/8 pully the smallest they make. I emailed whipple a week ago.. still no reply.

its runs good for 3 psi.. just want more

maybe ill sale the kit and do twin turbos... the low end tq is awsome though.
