sounds like you aren't too happy with the radix and are contemplating a switch to turbo

Maybe, I need to get time to install the smaller pulley and tune to see if that gives me what I want. Jumping ships is gonna be a lot of money thrown out the window with the blower and exhaust I have.

To your original question, Longtubes will net you power in the area that your looking for. Shorties are not really worth it. Y-pipes or duals it doesn't really matter, your not making enough power to make a difference there. Get rid of the flowmaster and get a better muffler.

And if you really want power get a magnacharger. I just got mine retuned, and I now have over 400ftlbs, from 2-5k rpm

Get a TVS. Mine pulls like a damn freight train. I've towed a 6000 lb boat with a turbo and now my TVS2300, and the TVS bring on boost and torque right off idle, where the turbo had to take a few seconds to spool up. The TVS gives all the torque I need at any RPM with zero lag.

A TVS1900 would go very well with your LQ4

Do both of you guys run 91 or better octane? And, what about gas mileage? How has it changed when towing compared to the factory engine?

I run 93 octane when I can but its tuned for 91 because up here its hit or miss. My running avg mileage is 12.7mpg Thats with maybe 60-70% highway. Before I did all the mods it was about the same. Where the blower hurts you is when you you get into boost. I can drop that mpg pretty darned quick.

I run 91 all the time. My gas mileage has always been in the ******* since the truck was 100% stock brand new. I normally get 12-13 around town driving nice and if I'm lucky I'll get 14-15 on the highway. When I tow it seems to drop down to about 8mpg, it was that way stock and is still that way even with all the crap I've done.

Interesting, thanks.

I have a custom camshaft and under-drive pulleys ready for install to net me another 30-40 HP/TQ for towing. My goal is to not hurt the gas mileage. I'm towing a car trailer and gear for about 7,000 lbs.

With tuning and gentle driving I get 16-17 around town, but cannot reliably break 20mpg on the highway. No numbers while towing at this time.

I do have a lq4, 4.10s and I drive 75 on all the highways. That may lead to my fuel consumption.
