One of my farming buddys ran nothing but off road diesel in his 01 Dmax since it was new. Ran fine on it. A couple years ago, his hired hand got caught running it in one of their farm trucks when he got pulled over for speeding and first offense got a $1500 FINE! ( and a warning for speeding ) They said if he got caught again, fine could be $10,000 Thats a hell of a risk to save a few bucks.

Yeah the Government doesn't like it too much when people try to skip out on taxes... I bet the fines associated with that are higher than drunk driving, or running down old ladys (mostly cuz they are draining Social Securty! haha!) Shows you where their "priorities" are. Different venders may blend off-road diesels different so it could have no sulfur or lots of sulfur. 2007+ Diesels should use only the ULSD since the heavy load of sulfur may damage or clog up the new Emissions control systems, Biodiesel would be better here. 2006 and older would be ok. If your not sure either way then don't use it! Its not worth the risk to save a few bucks. Besides if you don't use the on-raod diesel then someones grandma will have a few more bucks to blow! So if your going to use anything Biodiesel is best. Theres Zero sulfur and better for the motor since it lubricates far better than regular diesel and its not red! Its only downfall is that it sucks when it gets really cold outside, much like the new ULSD.

The Highway Patrol around here have been known to stop by the local Farmers Exchange and check the trucks in the parking lot. They particularly like to do it when there is an auction because they get to harrass hundreds of pickup owners. I guess they don't have anything better to do.
