Offroad diesel
#11
Its the SAME as on road diesel only dyed for tax purposes as stated above. This new ULSD sux compared to the LSD. Ive hear # 2 heating oilhas more sulfur in it than regular diesel, but you wouldnt want to run it in the cold due to lack of additives.

It does have a higher sulfur content I think and red dye; otherwise its the same. If you run it through the engine it'll be evident much later on by looking at the injectors and the rest of the fuel system.

it has higher sulfur in it if you order your load hi sulfur off road....if i just call for a load they will bring me low sulfur off road...you cannot order hi sulfur on road....we use 7000 to 14,000 galons a week here at work...

I think our largest consumption in one day was 10k gal - but that was like three years ago, we had over 14 earthmoving projects running at one time. Times that by over 200 pieces of iron and thats a lot of fuel being burnt up...
but to sum it up - "red" fuel has a higher sulfer content, that does not cause the fuel to be red as it is dyed so that law enforcement officers can tell the difference between on the road fuel and off the road fuel. And the off the road fuel is better for all diesel motors cuz it has a bit more lubricant in it.

I keep flip-flopping on whether to get a vortec max or a diesel. It would be nice to run offroad diesel with a clear mind. I know all the diesel checkers in this area.....hell, they probably run it in their own vehicles.....
