Default Need Advice

I have a buddy who just got a 2008 Silverado 2500HD and he was asking me what was the best programmer for his truck and I told him I have no idea so that is why I am here to ask for advice on what programmer works the best with the 6.6L? Let me know. Thanks.

Plug and play: PPE
Do it yourself: EFILive or HPTuners (I have HPTuners)

However, it is rumored that the LMM ECM has the ability to log reprograms, so if he reprograms the ECM with an aftermarket tuner, and then goes back to the stock tune for warranty work, it will show up has him having done so.

The LMM uses the same bosch ecm that the LBZ does so I seriously doubt it can log reflashes.

With that said the PPE excellerator is the best handheld on the market, if you want to do the tuning yourself EFILive is the way to go 90% of the tuners use it vs HPT. EFI also has a lot more tables and diesel support, its what I use

That's only what I've read on Dieselplace, that the LBZ/LMM ECM is capable of recording reflashes and the dealer is capable of reading them. I can't verify whether it's true or not, nor do I particularly care because I have an LLY, but if it does turn out to be true, the dealer may not be friendly when a warranty claim is made. Take it with a grain of salt, but it wouldn't be difficult, or surprising, for them to do such a thing.

My truck 84K on it so Im not worried since my warranty is almost up anyway. Fact of the matter is, if the engine fails when gm tears it apart there will be eroded spots on the pistons and worn cylinder walls if the programmer did the damage and they will void it then and charge a massive amount of money. I don't care for my motor to blow any time soon so Ill stick to my tow tune and build something else to go fast in

My statement about the warranty claim was directed to Bradazz and his friend as backup for my first post. If a person doesn't care about the warranty, then more power to them (both figuratively and literally ).

according to the guys at Efi Live it definitely can log reflashes, and a solution looks pretty bleak.

To be honest if it truely can I dont think its a half bad idea, that way all these dishonest guys who throw bigger turbos and large tunes on their trucks blow it up then expect the general to foot the bill will be up the creek without a paddle. Last I had read on dp was that the LMM runs the same ecm so they didnt think it could, but I havent been on there much lately so...
