He is an engineer . . . . hand calculated. I don't think he even knows how to use the trip calculator. I do and I don't like mine because it's always about 1.5 mpg high so I get my hopes up.

I just have a hard time wrapping my head around you guys getting that good a mileage. I have babied mine around town to see my mileage get up to 13.8 and the sweet spot might get around 15 1/2 to 16 unloaded at 64 mph.

What's your setup? Year? tires? gears? programmer? 4x4? I know a lot of my friends get pretty bad mileage because they have them built with tires and drive them somewhat hard. I'm no diesel expert though.

2006 LBZ crew cab 4x4 with 285's on factory rims. Diablo programmer on stage 3, afe cold air intake, egr blockoff plate, can't recall the original gearing tho.

I do drive mine hard from time to time, but for 2 weeks straight, I babied the crap out of mine and couldn't get better than 13.6 around town. I calibrated my speedometer using my GPS, but I have a sneaking suspicion that my GPS isn't all that accurate. When I need one of those radar displays, I can't find one. When I could care less about what speed I am going, they are everywhere. Who knows at this point.

I know DIC's can be accurate or off depending on the injector tune info on gas motors, diesel I would think would be similar.

hmmm That doesn't make sense at all. You shouuld be getting a lot better mileage than 13.6. I'm no expert but that is what i got in my last gas truck pulling my 10 foot decoy trailer into the wind. That just doesn't seem right. Are you throwing any codes? I am no expert by any means but just trying to help you get that mpg up. More mpg is more $$ for mods.

Just got back from a round trip to Atlanta GA. With my Diablo programmer set on stage 3, I got 16.4 mpg running between 75 and 80 mph going there. Coming back, I turned the Diablo programmer down to stage 2 (towing) and got 17.6 mpg on the trip back. My speedo is about 1 to 1.5 mph off (reading slow) when checked against a newer GPS that I borrowed for the trip. The only trouble codes I have are when I installed a EGR blocker plate but haven't had the chance to solder in the cheater yet.

I did however get a deal on an EFI Live setup that just needs the programming license. Trying to get started in that is a sensory overload so I will ask here, of the guys who are following this thread that has EFI live, where can I get a copy of your program? Just needing some general guidance on where to start.

Thanks,

OMalley
