I guess this can be said for gas engines as well?

To a certain extent, diesel motors have inherently higher cylinder temps then a gas motor due to the high compression they run. The rings they talk about are used in alot of high performance motors these days so I would venture to say alot of what the article says can be carried over into the gas motors as well. I dont think the oil glazing they are talking about is as much of a problem in gas motors but the break-in procedure is nearly the same. Varrying loads help seal the rings in all motors.

I havent seen too much stuff for the new diesels, how do you plan on getting by the particulate filters? can you tune the faults out? got a way around an emissions test?

the particulate filters suck.... but theyre not that hard to "deal with"

ex. deal with requires use of sawzall or hack saw

actually the NHTSA is still behind on a date when it will actually be emissions testing them... and it will have the same exemption of the first few years from emissions tests....

plus most aftermarket exhausts get rid of the particulate filter

high flow intake, down pipe, exhaust, and a good tune... if you decide you need a lil more you can go mix of propane and N²O and you will have plenty of power.... not to mention you put a littl more injector in it and you can smoke anybody... Literally

on my 6.0 SD if a ricer pulls up bumpin his music with his hub cap spinners i just floor it and usually can fill his interior up with nice cancer causing black diesel smoke

A turbo back kit off an LBZ works on the LMM which deletes the DPF. The codes can be taken of with a tune only problem is if you take it in to the dealer they can read with a tech II how many regens your truck has gone through and obviously if it is a much lower number then it should be they will know something is up. The way to get around the DPF sensors basically makes them think the DPF is clean so it doesnt go into regen at all, and there apparently is a regen counter in the computer that will screw you if you take it in for warranty. So until the warranty is up or I just cant stand it anymore the DPF will stay on

Or if the cluster holds the mileage like the NBS trucks then Ill get a second cluster for when it goes to the dealer so it will have a low regen count and low mileage to match. I doubt Ill get too crazy with the truck for a while though so Im not too worried.

Atleast here in TX inspection of a diesel only consists of a safety inspection, IE seat belts, brakes, etc no emissions till 2010 I believe.
