Default good replacement clutch

She's on her last leg and I need a good replacement. Nothing dual disc or anything thats going to require me to put up the trucks title as collateral due to the cost. I'm looking for a good, single dics set up with good clamping force. IMO, anything will be better than stock, unless mine was whipped before i bought it. Any decent brand names out there for the gasser's? I know of one guy even with a charger having good luck with a new stock replacement but I want something a little more, if possible.

BTW centerforce dual disc is out of the question. Buddy of mine had one and it just never seemed right and lasted mabye 8k

All I found was stock, luke, center force and mccloud.

I have the center force in mine and it works great. Im running 33's 4.10 and sled pull it all the time. I cant seem to get the thing to slip at all. When I did mine I replaced all the parts at one time and seems to be working great. I have almost a year on it. Gotta a pull Friday night.

See, when my buddy had one in his, he got the flywheel too (required) and replaced everything in there as well. The problem with his was that it was damn near impossible to shift at anything over 4500 rpm due to the weights wrapped around the pp fingers. How does yours shift, I'm assuming you run the fawker pretty decent considering you broke the yoke lol.

Also, I have a Mcleod in the woods buggy (custom application) and they are great clutches but the street/strip, 30% better than stock clutch they have only says they are only for the 55-97 chevys, no real indication of actual models and definitely nothing specifically called out for our trucks, unless you spotted something I didn't, or talked to them personally?

As for shifting mine I shift it about 5500rpms all the time. Rev limiter is set at 6500 so I use it all. It pulls hard to about 6200. I have no problems with mine. As for mcleod they only have a pulling clutch. I have talked to them and south bend and theres nothing out there for use. The center force is the best option I found.

Yes sir, they do.

I'm on the fence now with two different options.

Opt 1:
Buy the Centerforce DF kit with billet flywheel from summit, around $750.00 bucks and remove the weights from the PP to eliminate the almost impossible high RPM shifts. Its a 12" disc, same as factory and specifically made to fit my truck per spec so fitment is non-issue
edit: just saw your post gotmud, at least someone out there isn't having the trouble my buddy did.

Opt 2:
Buy the RAM Automotive 1550 flywheel that accepts old style and new style clutches and buy a clutch for an older pickup, bolt in and go. My issues with this option are; I"m not sure if my internal slave will have enough throw and i'm downsizing to an 11" disc. With more clamping force the 11" vs. the 12" should pretty much justify itself. Actually, the factory clutch is 11-11/16", little shy of a full 12". Another possible issue is that even searching for an 80's era clutch, the good ones still seem to be 12" disc's. I've found a few 11's but nothing better than OEM quality. There are pro's and con's to both options.

I guess if Gotmud is having good luck with his then it may be my best option overall. The next issue is the plastic bull **** of a clutch pedal bracket that GM had a dumbass attack on when designing, which failed twice in more than one pickup that I know of.
