At any rate, it seems to be like 40k min touch, so I think that is way out of my league. Just have to close my eyes when filling up at the sight of $100 bills flying away into space....

I honestly think that I could do this for you for under 25k as long as the price of the engine and trany aren't super high. If anyone is truely interested you can contact me for further info on this. PM me or email me.

What do you think a fellow would be looking at to have this done? I assume you would use a "broken in" engine and tranny.....

Yes the 3/4 ton Avalanches, Suburbans, and Yukon XL offered 8.1 till 2006 with the 4l85e transmission. As of 2007 3/4 Avalanches have been dropped and the 8.1 suposedly dropped from the SUV line as well. From what I have read the Dmax never made it was because the Allison 1000 will not fit in the space the 4l85e does. But I have seen 3/4 ton vans with Dmax but use the 4l80e behind it. It is said to be a detuned duramax engine. 295 hp. It might be best to wait a year or 2 to see what happens. The 6l80e should start to come out for 2008. They are available in the Cadillac platfroms of Escalades. They offer them with a 6.2 gas engine at about 400hp with the 6l80e 6 speed automatic transmission. On average from deluxe Suburban to deluxe Escalade is about $20,000 differences.

I know its an old thread, but I'm still stupified by why hasn't GM put a Duramax or other diesel into the full size SUV line yet.Between Calgary,Edmonton and Fort St.John, they could sell every unit they built at whatever price they would like to charge...

The 4.5 is supposedly a ready-to-go piece that they shelved during the bailout and subsequent "car czar" phase. It was to debut for 2011, last I checked. Maybe we'll see it in the new chassis? The preliminary numbers released for the powerplant were the same as the 2005 Duramax at 300hp and 520lb/ft...
