Default Duramax or Cummings?

Hey guys, I am going to post this in both sections so I get both sides of the fence... I am a Chevy man, I like both trucks, I am just basically wondering what the pro's, and cons are to both makes. I have a 24' enclosed to pull my race car in, and I may be looking ofr a new truck here soon. I would like to know good, and bad stories and what tyoe of mpg's yall are getting... Thanks in advance...

Seth

If you buy used watch out for higer milage injectors and glow plugs. MPGs can be upped a few with a tune which is a plus.

I vote Dmax, but there are some real nice Cummins' out there too. I will be getting another one once we buy our permanent house.

i had an 06 cummins, and at 1500mi i had to take it in for a check engine light, then i broke the recurlate a/c door off inside the dash, and then another check engine light. Other than that... I put a "smarty" programmer on it and tore some tires up, that thing would scoot, expecialy for a big *** truck. I even beat an RX8. And it got about 20 mpg on the highway, with a cold air intake, chip, straight pipes, 80psi in the tires. I had a single cab long bed, 6spd manual.

go dmax, my dads has 127,000 trouble free miles, most of them pulling a 30 ft gooseneck. it gets about 18mpg stock, no chip, straight piped. My buddys 06 megacab is in the shop more than its on the road. I dont mind the cummins, there good motors, but look at the truck they are in. Dodges are cheaply built and they cant build an auto trans to save there *** imo. theres another reason to go dmax, the allison

Seth gimme a call when you come in and ill let you drive mine. If the trailer is a bumper pull we can even hook to it so you can see how it tows.

Oh and I vote Dmax ---- While I do like the cummins engine --- look at what its got around it.
