even then, i'm only aware of the NBS 2500 manuals being the NV4500 behind a 6.0 or the ZF-S6-650 behind the 8.1 & duramax... though the 1/2ton variants of the 4x4 NV3500 used 32spline output shafts to the transfer case like a HD truck (vs the 4L60's 27spline).
NV3500 was used behind the 350 in some of the NBS 1500 and light 2500s. NV4500 for the HD stuff. I know the 350s were still around in 2005 in the NBS. I have a P59 Green/Blue DBC calibration for a 1-ton 350/NV4500 5spd/GMT800.

yours come from mexico? domestic market never used 350s in the NBS trucks (GMT800), but the C3500HD (still a GMT400) did carry the 350 up through 2002. the mexican & maybe brazilian (likely other exports, too) GMT800s had some 350s lingering around for a few more years due to their lower emissions standards.

you're correct that the OBS 4.3, 305, and 350 all had NV3500 options in the LDs, though.

new fun fact i learned tonight is that while i thought all 8.1s with a stick-shift got the ZF 6spd, apparently, the C3500HDs kept using the NV4500.

Yes, that's what I understand as well. 8.1/ZF combination is said to be extremely rare. Folks that have seem to REALLY like them.

In the automatics, the 8.1 in the GMT 800 HD trucks got the Allison, but the GMT400-looking C3500HD 8.1 kept the 4L80e. That 4L80e had the parking brake integrated into the tail housing, like the RV 4L80e. They got a roller bearing tail shaft instead of a bushing ( I think a few other differences?). I've never seen them in person, and have shy-ed away from them, as I think they don't work in a regular pickup application w/o a teardown and output shaft swap? Probably are well worn internals since all of those trucks were heavy workhorses. GVWR of 15k lb.

Mexican truck. Fun fact the Mexican OBS had TBI 350s until about 1998. They also had both a port fuel injected 250 I6 dubbed the 4100 and a MWS 4.2 I6 Turbo diesel (shared with the Ford Lobo F250/F350) as an option. The Brazilian S10s had an optional 4 cylinder Perkins diesel too. The early Mexican OBS also had a 250 I6 with TBI as an option.

I have driven a Mexican spec 02 or 03 Tahoe with a 350/5spd. Much better running than the 5.3/4L60E ones we had here let alone the 4.8 ones.

I was looking at the towing capacities of the 1999 models and found the 5.3 in the 2500s listed:

https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sour...iasVkMRqsfnKyG

Seems like the GMT 400 are mixed in there with the GMT 800s, so you gotta know what you have. It does seem to only list the 5.3 in the Silverado 2500 2wd, which is what was mentioned before...

8,500 lbs towing rating with a 5.3 and 4.10 gears is still pretty good I think. I'm pretty sure those trucks had the 14 SF and hydro boost and I think a 4 or 5 leaf pack? Pin weight would be getting up there on that much trailer weight. The C2500 LD double asterisks means "HD" on the footnote. I have no idea what that means 🤷 doesn't make sense.

Ive often wondered if the Tow limits are from just the bumper pull ratings.
Never been able to find anything on goosneck ratings.

This 2000 source has a section for "5th wheel towing" but only for select models.https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sour...tNqVE-n1Fbofc_

It's sorta confusing because it seems like the SUVs are in the same category, LOL.

Looking at the later towing guides, seems like the ratings went down a bit for the same models configured models?

I'll have to look at my Owner's manual to see how they compare...

I can't find my 1999 Owner's Manual. I found an on-line version and it does match what that trailer guide says about the C-2500LD, which shows the 5.3 option. There's also a C-2500 HD and a K-2500HD. Maybe the "HD" was a torsion front suspension option on those? What's bizzare is that there's an option for the 6.5 diesel! WTH!? I've never seen a GMT-800 with a 6.5 diesel, at least not in the States. Do those exist? Maybe some other markets got them?

It's possible an export market had those. Like Mexico had the old 5.7 in the new trucks/ Suv's

There is a post on one of the social networks were a guy shows a Brand New 2023 Ford Dually Diesel on a trailer and it has no Emissions Equipment on it from the factory.
