Default orange peel and scratches

alright so i bought my truck about two weeks ago from a dealership. Its dark ming blue metalic
they buffed it out and it looks like they used a dirty pad on a high speed buffer and has some classic swirls, not my style!
there are a few light chips and scratches im goig to repair.

so here is the question can the factory orange peel be color sanded out or has it cured too much(its an 05)
i was thinking about claying, wet sanding, rubbing compound the machine glaze and wax.
i might just try the rubbing compound and go from there
sorry for the long question but comments will be greatly appreciated

clay bar, wet sand, and a good buff will do wonders

does the clear level pretty well, ive done it on fresh paint jobs but never later than a week after so i wasnt sure if it would still work. im planning for a long day or two of actual prepping sanding and buffing

Yea, our trucks have a good clearcoat. Prep is KEY! I did all this last summer and prepped it right (this is before my truck was lowered). I did this to prevent all the buffing compound getting into to all the cracks and seals

About half a day I have a porter cable buffer and I worked down from a cutting pad to a polishing pad.
Also I removed the molding before prep, just came right off with a little hair dryer heat and after it was all done installed the GMC moldings

Only way to remove the peel is to wet sand it out, then buffing it back out. I have heard that you need to be carefull, that the clear on the trucks, isn't that great, but havn't seen for my self soo..

If you don't carried get away on the wet sanding you'll be fine, I used a 2000 grit and sometimes a 1500 grit on scratch areas. With that fine of a paper there is nothing to worry about, the buffing will easily take care of it. Just remember that smooth strokes with the buffer and don't put very much pressure on the buffer.
