one of the trucks I just picked up has almost 300k miles on it. It ticks (likely a lifter) and smokes a lil. I'm swapping in one with 170k on it.

You should really stop picking up trucks or you're gonna hurt yourself.

I know. It's really not a good idea considering I've already got a bad back. But sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.

my stock 5.3 hade 180k + before i pull it out , and i would say a lot of them were at wide open throttle , i never i mean never hade a problem with the motor i ran through a few 60e's but never hade any problems with the motor,
when i pull it out i took a head off to see the cylinder walls and pistons and they seem new the cylinder walls still hade perfect cross groves the pistons look great, i actually fealt bad couse i pulled it out.

A good buddy of mine has 500k+ on his 02 2500hd 6.0/80e. Just replaced the trans last year at about 425k, motor still runs well, its getting a little tired, but still pulls a 28ft enclosed trailer about 500 miles every week. Truck has been poorly maintained, oil changes every 10-15k with cheap oil, pulls a 6k+lb trailer all over the country. Has gone through more sets of tires than I can count.

my 04 rcsb has 124,xxx 4.8....has no problems at all.stock tranny still shifting good but that prolly aint gone last to much longer...every time i go to the you pull it yard everthing is gone off the trucks except the motor.a tractor place in town has a 07 nnbs 5.3 as a deliverly truck that i do all the service work on.it has alil over 200k on it.only work really done it so far is ball joints.i replaced a trans in a guys truck,it was a 99 ecsb z71 it had 430k on it.he said motor was untouched.thats been over a year ago..its hard to tear up these motors unless you are really trying to..the 60e and g80 can't handle much power..as far as brakes the fronts last along time..the rear will wear out first expecially the e-brake shoe

Default Girlfriend verses truck

My truck has 153k on it. It doesn't use any oil Never been into the engine. Just replaced the transmission last week...not because anything was wrong with it but because I'm going to start doing some serious upgrades. I drove a racecar for a long time and I know what its like to have confidence in your eqiupment. Never have replaced the front brakes. The rotors still have the clips on them. I did replace the rear brakes about 3 years ago, I noticed at that time the emergency brakes shoes needed replaced. I just replaced those last week as well, lol...itll need rear brakes soon though. I'll do the front and rear at the same time. I'd really like to be able to upgrade the brakes as well.
My girlfriend sometimes complains about the relationship I have with my truck, said it always gets more attention than she does. I just told her that my truck has never sassed me back, locked me out, performs when I ask it, its done everything I've asked it to do, and it doesn't whine when I lean on it a little bit....hopefully she won't see this. LOL!
