Default Exhaust on 2007 silverado

Hello, I am looking to install a new exhaust setup on my 2007 Silverado with a 4.8. I am thinking of going with shortie headers with the mufflers bolted right to them. Will I supper any performance issues with this set up? If so, what do you guys recommend? Thanks.

Shorty headers are a waste of money.

Just buy long tubes, then some pipe/muffler and dump it before the axle if you want to make it easy.

You'll need a tune aswell to make the most of the headers and to shut off the check engine light for cat codes/o2 codes.

Not a fan of shorties, but didn't think long tubes would fit.

Got an idea for how I want to run them, just need help putting it all together. Thinking long tube headers, no cats and dump before rear axle. Now my question is, what muffler and does muffler placement matter? Ie muffler being last part, or put some pipe behind muffler. Thanks

I'd run a turn down or turn out from under the truck to try and get the sound to bounce away from the underside of th truck and not make as much drone.

It will be pretty damn loud with no cats too, just so you know and it will rasp alot and drone.

I'd go with long tubes, to a shorty muffler/bullet muffler/resonator to some pipe then to the mufflers you want. That extra muffler or resonator will reduce the rasp and drone alot in most cases.

Thanks. The rasp isn't a big issue to me. I may dump them out the pass side. How are speed engineering headers?
