Default oil supply for turbos

I supply my turbo with oil on my truck from the block off plate near the oil filter. I am doing twins on my Chevelle and wanted to supply it from where the sending unit is. While working on the short block I was wondering why I can't just tap the holes that run down to the lifters on the GEN IV block and drill holes through the valley cover. Does anyone see an issue with this?

why over complicate things? buy the adapter for side of oil pan above filter. this way you get fresh filtered oil from the filter to feed the turbos

True. I was actually going to tap those holes anyways and run pipe plugs while I have it apart. It was just something I was throwing out for debate Or to see if anyone has tried it.

you could do that but a proper valley cover has O rings to seal them up

Yeah my original one had them they are all pretty beat up. I was going to tap them to make sure they were sealed off good then the thought of using them as oil supply popped in my head. The only things I don't like about the block off plate is that it is sort of close to the exhaust and a much longer line. I was just thinking outside of the box...
