I have a ton to learn about this diesel stuff. Gasoline anything I am well verst in but not diesel.

The one thing I know for sure is the EGT has to stay low enough not to melt the pistons down.

Can you give me a list of mods I can due to help me be able to utilize the Edge CTS's other power setting while towing and keep the EGT's under meltdown point?

Turbo- What kind and size?
Pump- Where is the best place to buy one and which one is the best?
Exhaust- I already removed the cat and installed a straight pipe. I can put a 5" exhasut on it if that will help. I do already have a 5" straight threw muffler but it is not installed yet.
Anything else?

Basically things I can do so I can take advantage of the current flashed tune and the Edge CTS stacked on top of it, and things that will help the fuel milage out too.

Towing and milage are what I bought this truck for. It already ows great but the EGT's concerne me. Milage is good for a one ton. I get around 16-17 unloaded right now and around 10 with that horse trailer running through the hill country. I don't expect to get 20 with a heavy load on it but I would like to get 20mpg unloaded if it is possible.

So I would like to get the EGT's down so I can utilize this $1200 Edge Juice with Attitude CTS controler and improve the milage some. Any advice will be greatly apretiated (however that is spelled LOL!).

Thanks for the advise.

The material limits on your turbo should allow you to run at about 1350 continuously. Lots of guys run diesels much hotter for short bursts and I wouldn't feel too bad about running up to of 1400 for brief times. These are limits so you don't melt the turbo, not the pistons.

Turbo should be pushing 33 psi stock.

So the big question is, what constitutes excessive EGT? If everything is working properly, 1250º to 1300º F. is a safe turbine inlet temperature, even for sustained running, mile after mile. Above 1300º F. things can start to get edgy. Remember, excessive EGT damage is cumulative. Over 1400º F., you're usually gambling against a stacked deck and it's only a matter of time until you lose. The higher the EGT, the shorter that time will be.

I feel like what I stated and what Banks stated are very similar.
