I have a set of Dart 225s and I am super thinking about running them on my truck motor and getting some other heads for my 408 for my Camaro but I will have to spend a pretty penny on them for the Camaro so that is what is keeping me from doing that. So, my original plan was to just have the stock 317s worked locally but some issues have been brought to my attention about the porting abilities of my local machine shop. So I am thinking about maybe going with WCCH, or Patriot. I would like to not break the bank. Before I drop 2000 or close to it on my truck I will use the Darts on it and get some TFS 235s for the Camaro. Also a consern if running those 225s on my 6.0 which will be 10.7-1 with a 220/226 cam and a TBSS intake. I want low end torque and was told the runner length might not be optimal for the best low end or mid range. Opinions??

From what I can tell the Dart heads would take the CR to 11.3 and I am not sure if that would be too much compression for something I want to use as a DD, and tow vehicle with good power. Would that be too much or would it be ok with that 220/226 cam? Would I need more cam than that?

The compression is not really an issue imo until you tow, High compression and towing don't usually mix very well..
I say call up WCCH...
Also what intake manifold?

Trailblazer SS intake, I was told by Pat G to keep the CR around 10.7, he is who specd the cam for me. I gave him the motor and the vehicle and etc and that is what he said. I am just afraid that the 225 runner wouldn't have enogh velocity to make really good power down low because they would flow so much better. Keep in mind my theories could very well be way off, I am just going off what I have read and been told and adding my thoughts to that. I do phone work for a living, so this isn't second nature. I know I am walking a fine line trying to build a hot motor for my DD and use it to tow with in such a heavy vehicle, but I want it to be a very well matched combo. I am funny about all my parts matching and complimenting each other.

I called Richard and ran this by him and he pretty much talked me into running the 245 Edlebrock head on my Camaro, and running the Darts on my truck as long as the CR won't be through the roof. Someone verify what the CR would be on flat top LS2 pistons, 62 cc heads, and whatever gasket I would/could run. The stock MLS is .054, is there any thicker gasket to run? I know they make a 4 layer gasket but how thick is it? I would like to keep the CR no more than 11.1 since I am running this in a truck that I fully intend on towing with throughout the year in Alabama summers with some 100 temps in the middle of the summer. Just want to check, double check and recheck. Would PTV clearence be an issue? The cam has .605 lift on intake and .600 exhaust with stock rockers.

i run 11:1 cr on my lq9 with the ls3 heads and truck intake 460 lbs ft. torque patrick G spected cam, if patrick says it work it will work lol!!! heads were milled .015 and used .040 gaskets then again my cam is 232/238
