Default Tranny fluid leak

I just picked up an 85 chevy pickup last week. Today I find a large puddle of tranny fluid under it. It's leaking out through the rear where the drive shaft connects. Since I am clueless with transmissions, does this sound like a major problem?
Thanks,
Mike

Just sounds like a rear seal. Shouldn't be a big deal and I belive it probably has a 700R4 tranny in it.

I replaced the rear seal, and it still leaks. I noticed it only leaks when I park facing up hill. It doesn't leak while parked on the level or facing down hill.
I'll post some pics tomorrow, if it's not raining.
Any other suggestions?
Thanks

How is the bushing in the tailhousing? Also do you have a vented yoke? If so there is a seal inside the housing for the vented yoke. Might want to check that. Vince

Vince you beat me to it. It's the damn vented yoke again!!
Look like this?

Or is it leaking closer to the tranny tailhousing where the orange rubber seal is?

DAMN!! it looks like the last pic. Where is this other bushing?
Sorry for the dumb questions, but I've never messed with a tranny until yesterday.
Thanks for the great info

There is a bushing that is pressed into the tail housing that could be worn. The other seal is located on the output shaft, in a sleeve, that is pressed into place. Inside this sleeve is a rubber oring seal that likes to get hard as time goes by. These are the two things that come to mind. I have the parts if you need them when you figure out where it is coming from. Vince
