Default I need to know everything involved with a TH400 swap

I'm sick of these F-ing 4l60e trannies. I need to know everything involved with swapping over to the 400. I'm no money man, so the 80e is out of the question at the time. The truck gets no long distance driving, so that is absolutely no factor. Thank you for any help

as far as I know, you'll have to get a bell housing, drive-shaft, and some kind of compuer work.

well you'll have to tune out some of the tranny parameters completely. I honestly dont know what involved in that part of it but the harware issues will be easy to deal with... you may even have to fab up a cross member. which shouldnt be hard either. I know 2toneblown has a 400 in his truck.

blacksheep is running a 400 as well. The tranny is not electronic so you will have to fab a throttle cable bracket (there are lots of them aftermarket) to move the tv cable. Unless your truck is drive by wire you will be ok. Call Jackson powertrain and they will cut you a drive shaft. I think mine was about 200 bucks. You will also need a yoke that works with the trans and the output of the driveshaft.(ie corect # of splines)

Everything seems easy enough other than the tuning issues. I'm going to give Allen a call and see what all would be involved in making the pcm work, if anything.

A turbo 400 is a mechanical trans that is vacuum modulated. No TV cable. It has a 1 wire 12 volt powered kickdown. You will need a trans, a dipstick and tube, a converter, a driveshaft yoke, inspection cover and it should bolt up. It is a one piece trans no seperate bell housing.
