Default Paging BigTex-Cam Selection

Finally ordered my cam. Went with a Crane grind.
http://www.cranecams.com/motorsports...er/1449521.htm
Should work well with my LS6 "blue" springs as it only has .500 lift on i/e. I went a little conservative but I did not want to lose all low end again. I will still shift at 6000 rpm. The cam will be here Wednesday. I will let you know the results this weekend.

Man - that sounds great. If all works out well for you, I may change to something similar. I have a few issues right now with part throttle ping that I think may be enhanced by my LS6 cam.

Please keep me informed on this. Where did you order it from and about how much $$$ did it cost you?

Thanks
Richard

Jegs for 419.99 plus next day air shipping = 450.00. Yes its a lot but I want my truck back together soon. I will keep you informed.

Ouch, I wish it were cheaper than that. That 113 LSA looks good. I wnat my low end to pull harder. Right now I have my rev limiter set to 6400, and it pulls hard all the way there, but its a fight to get the thing moving.

How much to get a custom grind cam made to order?
I wouldn't think it would be much more than that.

I'll be staying with the 5.3 and possibly add milled and polished heads. I want more low end and have power strong to 6000. If it falls after that, so be it. I like the 113 LSA from that Crane, but am not sure on duration or lift yet. I'll keep the LS6 springs in, so I can handle more lift and not have to worry as much with valve float above 6000. A slight lope would be good.

Any suggestions?

assuming your going to be juicing this winter...

what about a 208/214 with around .520-.525 lift on a 112 or 113 lsa? not too big but not too small and good lsa for low end power

Thats what I've been thinking too. Tighter LSA and mild lift. The Crane seems like the closest one so far. I have been keeping an eye out in the classifieds for one like Trevor put in his fbody, then took out.

That was the selling point on me too was the 113 LSA. I won't be able to get it in till Thursday and I will test her out to see what she will do this weekend. The dyno at my work was removed and wholesaled out . It will all have to be seat of the pants feel but I will tell you what I can and answer any questions.

The Crane 208/216 was the first cam I tried in my '98 T/A WAAAYYYYY back when. I didn't gain any HP over the stock '98 cam, but I did pick up 15 lbs./ft. of RWTQ. It was a VERY torquey setup! It just ran out of breath past 6k, but that wasn't a big deal at the time. Mine was on a 114 LSA, FWIW. I actually sold the cam to a guy w/ a '99 Silverado. I've always said that it should work really well in the trucks. I'm VERY interested in your results, particularly with the 113 LSA. It should make some nice power and keep the torque. Let us know how it works for you.
