Need a little help... I'm trying to do something for my 12 year old. He's into cars, and I want to get him out in the garage for his "own" project. I want to give him a motor to disassemble, bag/tag, clean, and reassemble. I'm looking for a 4.8 or a 5.3 out of a truck. Don't need accessories, or harness, or anything extra. Don't care about miles, but would prefer it not be a pile of crap. Just looking for a little help from the car community. Let me know what you've got, or what you know of.

 

I have a 2000 4.8 that would be perfect since you want to dissassemble.

It has a blown #7 piston, so your kid could diagnose it too!

I have 2 5.3 both ran when "retired" one was leaking oil, possible blow by?, so it was pulled and replaced with 6.0 it had about 140-150,000 miles, it is currently a "Long Block" as I have removed the intake but I can put it back on or include it.
