WTB: 07'+ 5.3 AFM Cam
#13
I'm thinking of buying a long block LH-6 with active fuel management from a repair shop. My intent is to build it into a 600hp turbocharged power plant, and replace the '04 5.3L that's presently in my truck. I could get it at a decent price (I'm surprised how expensive these engines are....only way I could make them really cheap is to sit around the junk yard and try to beat the guys to it who are plucking them out at $250 and then re-selling them at $700-$1100...but I don't have that kind of time.
Anyway, I read a bit about the active fuel management, and I'm assuming I'll be using my present ECM with a tune to manage the new engine. That said, it seems that the lifters will have to be changed. I might have to change the cam (not sure yet). So, my question is, what changes would I likely be looking at to simply get rid of that system?
