read it in the blog part... since i have to hold your hand.. here...
i just talked to Kevin, and everything is okie dokie...
... As if you hadn’t heard, Chad and I are bagging Bryce’s truck. He finally brought it up here, dropped it off with some parts, and Chad and I got started right away. We all were in Chandler so Chad and I could take off the bed and store it at his house. It took a little while to get the bed off, and even then it wasn’t a whole ton of fun to do with just 2 people. Fortunately, I brought my guns.
Ahem.
Then we drove the truck sans bed down surface streets with Chad following, until we got back to my house in North Scottsdale. It took about 45 minutes, but it was worth it. That truck has a beasty super charger in it, and it’s not shy on the power.
We get it to the casa, put it on stands, and do a quick inventory of what we’ve got. Before he left, Bryce said, “Oh yeah, just whatever else we need to get lemme know.” Then he handed me a check for a down.
After a careful breakdown, we realized that Bryce was missing a LOT of stuff. A new tranny x-member, and a few key fittings were the most obvious ones. But for that day, we decided to wait and get into it in the morning.
Sunday.
8am.
Up.
Into the garage I go, and I start taking off the wheels.
First wheel, first problem. One of the wheel studs is fucked. Crossthreaded, ripped up or something, but that ****** is cooked. I have no clue how to fix it, so I’m going to talk to Discount Tire about it tomorrow, and see what I can do.
But without taking off the tires, and knowing that we’re going to have to pull the truck out of the garage again tomorrow, well we can’t do much but go deeper into what we need and what we don’t.
All tolled, the fittings were fucked. We need to return 12 fittings, and order 36 more.
Wow.
Fortunately, he bought from companies I recommended, and since I know the owners pretty well, it shouldn’t be a big deal to return or exchange some things, since nothing was installed. It’s not going to be free though, but Bryce knew that getting into it.
We also ran into a snag with the tank situation. When Bryce and I originally worked up the plan of attack, he decided to basically duplicate what I have for my setup. Since then, KP Components has released a new watts link setup to replace the panhard bar. It’s not out yet, so we have to work around it, while still getting the most storage for the buck.
The tanks he ordered are just like mine - (2) 6.5 gallon tanks that fit great between the frame rails. But without the nuts-on measurements of the watts link, and knowing that I’ll have to move my tanks back to accomodate one myself, we’re kinda in a pickle. What we (including Bryce) have decided to do was to run 1 6.5 gallon tank, and if he needs more, we can easily add a 3-gallon somewhere else in the system - probably above the muffler or somewhere in there...
