Default Driving through California.

I'm moving on the 15th of mach and I'm stopping in Washington to see family. Would I be okay if I drive through California? My truck has no cats, the procharger and the erg has been removed. If I get stopped there is no way I would pass one of their visual inspections.

Good question. My guess is if your truck is registered in AZ then you should not have to abide by the CA smog laws. I live here and haven't had AIR or EGR for awhile, and turbo on the way, and I live in an area with what I feel like has the most police/CHP per capita. I've only been bothered about tinted windows and lights, an no front plate.

I would not worry about it if I were you.

Depends on the officer, you can get away with a warning or get a citation for loud exhaust,I know of some people that come from Oklahoma that get cited for tinted windows and no front plate.

I know by passing through that territory is your choice. You have multiple alternate Federal Interstate Systems. I would think any State trooper from any State can stop you once in their jurisdiction and hit you with their ordinances and statues. A full check like that, is not likely to happen at all; unless getting the car inspected somewhere for tags etc.

Where in WA are you going/moving?

Believe me I was scared when I moved, fully tinted 2.5% murdered out Tahoe, towing a murdered out old Burban. (the length of a 18wheeler) Yea, I definitely had troopers looking turn their necks, but it was a peaceful pull cross-country 3000 miles. I went through ID, OR.

If your passing through I am not sure what they could do to you for any thing. They could hassle ya but not sure if any fines would be in fact followed out. Cali is a ******* state but I duno if that is a law that if only passing through would be a issue.. Just play dumb if you get stopped

I seriously doubt you get stopped. You will only get busted for it if you are already in trouble and they feel like being extra mean.

You do know that Cat converters are a federal requirement. Any official from any branch capable of enforcement can stop you and cite you for that... in any state.
