not looking to do any motor swaps just looking to do some bolt ons small cam and get it tuned . i looked at a 2003 zo6 today but i didnt like the the trunk set up . i like the hatch with the removable top . Do the 2005 autos still have the 4 speed ? and 06 and up the 6 speed auto ? If i pick up a c5 it will be a manual 6 speed.

That would make a great track car, meaning it would produce some nice E.T.'s but either way you will want the C6 over the C5 hands down, I have driven both. C5Z with long tubes, C6 with heads, cam and 150hp shot, & C6Z stock. The C6 are just night and day difference from the C5 models...

all of them were M6's, I havent ever driven an auto vette. From a standard shift point of view the C6's have you in a more comfortable layout in the seat with the shifter setup etc. Everything just feels like its right were it should be. So much nicer to drive over the older gen's.

I think saying that you'd want a C6 over a C5Z hands down is a bit of an long-shot. We owned a C5Z for a good while, and sold it with over 115K on it. You can often get caught up in the moment and base your opinions on that if you don't own the car, but that car was very satisfying, especially with the cam, tiger sharks, lt's, etc. on it. As mentioned before, I've got a good bit of buddies with Vette's--C4, C5's, C6's, and C6Z's. If you were starting from scratch, of course I'd go with the C6, but I guarantee that you wouldn't want a manual C6 over a C5Z hands down. There'd be some debate, but the long saying stands...to each his/her own.

Not gonna lie, though. The smartest thing to do would be to find one of each model and test drive it. I know I would't drop that much money on anything that I was uncertain about.
