Dont know much about them to be honest. Its pretty much identical to the 500mag, depending on the bullet most loads are withing a couple hundred FPS and FTLBS so pick your poison pretty much ballistics wise. The hotest loads are only 100 or 2 behind the 500 at the muzzle energy wise. Whatever you do get the longest barrel version you can find. My 500 with the 10.5" barrel compensator it doesnt kick too bad. Not much muzzle flash but you better be holding on. About like shooting a 12gauge in pistol form, not a crisp recoil, more like a big push.

I have a couple i'm going to start working on shortly
I'm going to do a 338RUM with a 30 inch barrel for 300gr bergers 1-10 twist . also a 308 with a 26 incher and a 300winmag with a 28 incher. I just have to find the time to get on the spinner to get them done.

Why not do the .338 edge instead of the rum?

I just like the RUM better. The extra 100 to 150 FPS would do nothing for the shooting I do. I like the edge and have owened one just the rum is all I need out to 1200 yards.
If I can get 2700 to 2750 with the 338RUM on a milder side load I'll be happy. I just sold a 338rum with a 26 inch tube that was pushing the 300gr berger at 2660 and it did really well out to 1,200.

I have a 300RUM now pushing a 210gr berger at 3175 out of a 30 inch barrel. Its a fun rifle just heavy. I have not ran it out to past 700 yet.

I like a big boom! It comes in 8 3/8", and 6", I am looking at 8 3/8". The reason I am not looking at a .500 is the .460 will shoot .454 casull, and 45 LC too. More options. They all are man guns for sure

I'd much rather shoot the 45 rounds out of a smaller pistol, mine gets damn heavy. 454 is alright but you might as well shoot the better bullet since they're damn near the same price per round. Mine was given to me by my dad since he bought a matching consecutive numbers but if I bought it myself I would've went with the 500 still. Not really anything to do with the caliber but the bone collector edition comes with the longer barrel for better long range accuracy(and velocity) and it just looks badass. All of these pistols are going to be in relatively the same price range so pick your poison.
