Not a big fan of the witness line, just feel/look cheap to me.

I'm more of a function before form kinda guy. So long as it functions, I don't care about the form. Well so long as it's not a Glock. If I wanted Tupperware, it's on aisle 7 at Walmart.

A buddy has a 45 witness and it just doesnt point well for me but its hard to beat the price on em. I suppose Im just too busy riding the XD train, they just fit my hand well and are aesthetically pleasing IMO.

Any particular reason you dislike the glocks? Kinda suprising since I believe you like the XD line.

You work at a gun shop right?

Used to work at a gun shop. Then I moved to Wyoming. I do like the XD series, however, if you look at the grip angle on a glock, it is very much different. It just doesn't point well for me. Not to mention that all three safeties on Glock's are solely in case it's dropped. Where as the slide is completely locked as well as the firing pin blocked until both the grip safety and trigger safety are tripped on XD/XDM series. Granted though, I grew up shooting full size 1911's and CZ's and am accustomed to the grip angle. Can't blame you for disliking the Witness though. If the grip isn't natural, then a well aimed shot most certainly will be near impossible under extreme circumstances. No reason to be uncomfortable if it is not necessary.

I feel the same about the glocks and theyre just ugly guns. I plan on buying three more XDs this year but was also considering a 1911. I know besides the obvious difference in material how does the 1911 point versus your XD since we seem to like the same style guns? Its been a long time since Ive shot a 1911.

They actually point nearly the same for me. Obviously you can't get a really high grip on the 1911 unless you like bloody hands. However, I feel that it's more natural for me. Just don't go cheap with a 1911. Some of the lesser models may not digest HP rounds very easy. Personally I'm not much for bells and whistles which is why I chose a SA Range officer and a Remington R1. Not cheap, but not too expensive either. And they'll digest anything I throw at them. As far as XD's go, let me say this. I carry an XDM 5.25 45acp everyday simply because I can draw, point, and immediately be on target very quickly. It's a little bulky, but when it comes to protecting myself and those around me, i'll trade comfort for fire superiority every time.

Unfortunately nothing at the moment. Kind of in a holding pattern getting other projects done. Once I get some mechanic projects done, Ill be getting my garage lined out to where I can get me a good reloading station going. Ive got a 300WSM, 300RUM, 338RUM and a 30-378 at my disposal.

Not really sure which one to start playing with the. The 338 has all kinds of possibilities but starting form scratch has crossed my mind more than once. To be honest any of those guns with a good load can out-shoot me at the moment so some range time is definitely in order. After that Id like to make a purpose built tack driver that if need be can go to the big woods with me to take out an elk. Every since a very nice 6x6 was on the other side of the canyon and I shot under him with my 300WSM Ive kinda had the itch to make sure Im never out of gun again within reason. Didnt range it but looking at a ballistics chart and knowing how I aimed Im guessing he was about 900 yards out. I may not be able to make the shot but Id feel better knowing the bullet can carry the mail on out there.
