i was surprised with mine Cody....last time i went shooting, we chrono'ed my .308. Mine is the Rem 700 SPS Tactical, 20" bull barrel, I was shooting 155 gr. A-MAX, I was averaging 2850 FPS. Pretty good i think with a shorter barrel.

Lol, I don't know about that. When I bought my wife her 30-378 I about had a heart attack when I saw the price of ammo. Turned the corner, grabbed some brass and a can of powder, and went home to load for it. I still haven't put a factory round through it. I think when I bought it about 8 years ago, premium ammo for it was around $150 per 20rnds.

Ive been using 45gr Varget with 175gr SMK's 2.850". Cant say ive ever grouped them at 100yds but i know its enough to bring home a silver medal at 600yds
20" R700 AAC-SD
I like 308 cause barrel life and it doesnt eat too much powder.
Using some Free powder to try out.
Gotta love Dillon

mine shoots good with this cheesy hogue stock.. just gotta preload it the same every time.. when i hang the suppressor on the end of it, the barrel touchs the stock pretty good. but it still shoots good out to 700yds.

A bit off topic, but I've always wished Remington or Savage would make a heavy varmint or tactical 30-06. If you ask me, I think the 30-06 is just about the perfect mix of efficiency and power.

yea it kinda is.. but theres not a whole lot of difference between the 30-06 and 308 with the 168 and 175gr stuff.. its only when you get in the 190 and up is when it shines, but then you might as well go to the 300WM and blow both them out the water.
plus the 308 always had better scores than the 30-06 at the 1000yd matchs.
most the 30-06 loads dont fill the case much and i know alot of guys were getting alot of vertical stringing at long distances even tho their SD was pretty close. All my 308 loads are pretty tight on filing the case. No room in there

Yeah Ive read where the 175SMKs boat tail kinda pushes the powder out of the way
Ive just got to find time to get this thing together. I really hate to mess around with the leupold when I know I really want the pst. I may just wait to put it together since Ive got quite a few other new guns to play with here lately. Im really interested to see if my 8 twist 16" ar will actually shoot the cheap 55gr stuff better. My last 7 twist would only do about 2" at 50 with a cheap trigger. This one has a giessele SSA-E in and a much better barrel(PSA vs ARP).
