Default Texas CHL Costs

My roommate forwarded me a special for a local CHL class for $69 (normally $140). It's a voucher that is good until the end of November 2011. I'm thinking about taking advantage of the savings but I know there are other costs involved such as paperwork and fingerprints. For those of you who know, what was the total cost of your CHL (Texas preferably)?

The CHL class I took was $99 all inclusive. Meaning they helped us fill out the paperwork, fingerprinted us, took pictures, etc. All we had to do after that was pay the postage to send it to Austin. It's worth checking whether or not the place(s) you're looking at will do all the above or just facilitate the classroom sessions and range time.

There's a link to where I took it and what all they offer just for comparison sake. It's west of Fort Worth off of 377.

That shop I took you to when we were looking for the XD explained it as they would provide all the paperwork, shooting, gun fingerprints, notary and hand it to you to mail to State of Texas with you also sending the check for the actual license.

So $69 should be everything you need besides the payment to Texas for the license?

The money you have to send in for the state is a little over 100 but that was almost 5 years ago when I took it in addition to the instructors fee which for me was ~100 IIRC

So when courses say $XXX all inclusive, this does not include the tax/fee the state requires?

No, that "all-inclusive" cost typically just covers the logistics/class of applying for the CHL. You must still pay the state for the actual license.

Yep, I think the state fee is getting closer to 150 for new licensees. Go to class where they print you and take your "passport" photo onsite so you don't have to bounce around all over town like I did to send in your info.
